Service Summary
Juanita Ward (née Hutton) was eighteen years of age and living in Bethany, Manitoba, when she enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps on September 29, 1944, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
She completed four weeks of basic training in Kitchener, Ontario, followed by a four-week driver training course in Woodstock, Ontario.
Wartime Experience
Juanita was posted to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she served as a driver with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps.
She remained in Halifax through the final months of the war and continued service until her discharge.
Juanita was honourably discharged on July 3, 1946.
Post-Service Life
After returning to civilian life in Minnedosa, Juanita married Andy Ward in 1949.
They had one daughter, Cherokee (Mendrikis).
