Service Summary

Douglas Pollon was the son of Arthur and Bertha Pollon of Clanwilliam, Manitoba. He was living and working on the family farm when he enlisted in July 1943 at the age of 18.

He joined the Essex Scottish Regiment of the Royal Canadian Army.

Wartime Experience

Douglas deployed overseas in 1944.

On February 24, 1945, he was killed in action during combat operations in the Black Forest region of Germany.

He was initially buried at Bedburg, Germany, and later reinterred at Nijmegen, Netherlands.

Commemoration

Douglas is honoured among the Minnedosa area men who gave their lives in the liberation of Europe.
