Service Summary

Arthur Valdemar Pearson enlisted in Winnipeg on March 26, 1942, at the age of 21. He was from the Rural Municipality of Odanah and became a Military Policeman in the Canadian Provost Corps.

Wartime Experience

Arthur’s early duties included street patrols, rail patrols, and checking military passes, AWOL personnel, disorderly conduct, and deserters across western Canada.

He later trained at:

  • Camp Borden, Ontario

  • Valcartier, Quebec

  • Debert, Nova Scotia

He conducted convoy and traffic control duties on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

In December 1944, Arthur deployed overseas aboard the Mauretania and served in England performing traffic control, highway patrol, and military maneuver duties.

He volunteered for service in the Far East, but the war ended before deployment.

He returned to Canada and was discharged on March 28, 1946.

Post-Service Life

Arthur purchased farmland in the RM of Odanah and married Edith White of Franklin, Manitoba.

Together they raised five boys and three girls.
