Service Summary
Carl Lindsay Orr was born November 15, 1886, in the Odanah Municipality near Franklin, Manitoba. He attended Coldstream School and Minnedosa Collegiate.
He enlisted in Winnipeg with the 79th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force.
Wartime Experience
Carl served in France and Belgium, including action during the Battle of Mons.
He was wounded and severely gassed, requiring lengthy hospitalization in England, Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital, and Winnipeg.
He was discharged from service on January 31, 1918.
Post-Service Life
Carl returned to the family farm before marrying Irene Swinbank of Minnedosa in 1921.
They later settled in Minnedosa, where Carl became a respected businessman in:

Automobiles and trucks
Fertilizer and bulk oil
Grain elevator operations
Orr’s Garage
Known for honesty and integrity, he retired in 1950.
Carl passed away February 25, 1952.
