Service Summary

Hugh Marshall Dyer immigrated to Canada in 1881 and was serving as a Major in Minnedosa when war broke out in 1914.

Wartime Experience

He served with the 5th Battalion and fought at the Second Battle of Ypres, where he was severely wounded.

He later commanded the battalion and was promoted to Brigadier-General, leading the 7th Brigade through major operations.

Post-Service Life

After the war, he returned to Minnedosa, where he played a key role in community development, including establishing the hospital and supporting returning veterans.
