Service Summary

Ernest Charles Delmage began his military service in March 1936 with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons. He later became an instructor and joined the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RCEME) with the 4th Canadian Armoured Division.

Wartime Experience

Ernie served with a Light Aid Detachment supporting the 10th Infantry Brigade. He deployed to England in 1942 and landed in France shortly after D-Day.

His unit operated under fire and supported front-line operations, including advancing into Germany and back through Holland. Remarkably, his unit suffered no losses from enemy action during the campaign.

Post-Service Life

After the war, Ernie returned to farming before rejoining the military and earning his commission. He rose to the rank of Captain and served in multiple leadership and training roles.

He later worked locally and remained active in the Legion as a Life Member.
