Service Summary

Stephen David Clark enlisted in 1943 at the age of 18 with the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve at HMCS Chippawa in Winnipeg.

Wartime Experience

Stephen served aboard defensively equipped merchant ships operating across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. His duties included maintaining watch for enemy submarines and assisting in convoy defence.

He travelled extensively, including voyages through the Panama Canal to England, Australia, India, and Africa. These long and often dangerous missions exposed crews to constant risk from submarine attack.

Post-Service Life

After discharge in 1946, Stephen returned to farming and later worked in various occupations, including trucking and business operations. He raised a large family and remained active in community life.
