

John Maxwell “Max” Bracken

Service Summary
Max Bracken enlisted in June 1942 and trained in Esquimalt, British Columbia as a naval stoker.
Wartime Experience
Max served aboard multiple naval vessels and bases, including HMCS Chippawa, Stadacona, and Protector. His duties involved maintaining ship engines and supporting naval operations during the war.
He was promoted to Stoker First Class in 1943 and continued active service until his discharge in August 1945.
Post-Service Life
After the war, Max returned to his career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, working as a conductor for 39 years.
He and his wife Ida raised two children and were active in community life in Minnedosa. Max also served on town council and contributed to local programs.
