Service Summary

Levi George Bayes enlisted in November 1940 and trained in Canada before deploying overseas in 1941.

Wartime Experience

Levi participated in the D-Day landings and subsequent operations across France. He was involved in intense tank battles and was wounded during combat operations.

Following recovery, he served in a training capacity until the end of the war.

Post-Service Life

Levi returned to Canada and later farmed in the Moline area. He married Mary McGinn, and they raised five children.

He remained active in community service, including municipal leadership and cooperative organizations.
